How to start webcam server and webcams drivers. activate webcam support VIDEO4LINUX and install WEBCAM EXTRA DRIVERS *INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED This is a list of supported devices: Dexxa Webcam Labtec Webcam (old model) LegoCam Logitech QuickCam Express (old model) Logitech QuickCam Notebook (some models) Logitech QuickCam Web Philips PCA645/646, PCVC675/680/690, PCVC720[40]/730/740/750 & PCVC830/840. Askey VC010, various Logitech Quickcams, Samsung MPC-C10 and MPC-C30, Creative WebCam 5 & Pro Ex, SOTEC Afina Eye and Visionite VCS-UC300 and VCS-UM100. Philips PCVC720K/40 (ToUCam XS) SPCA5xx based webcams foXServe fully supports V4L and a big number of USB webcams. First of all you have to choose n from config menu to install V4L (and support for SPCA5xx) Then you have to choose t from config menu to add additional drivers and webcam server This feature was included from release 1.3.7. When the installation process is completed you have to connect your webcam and lauch webcam.sh from /mnt/flash/webcamserver with the command cd /mnt/flash/webcamserver ./webcamserver.sh If you launch a tail -f /var/log/messages you can see the output of modules loaded: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 pwc: Philips webcam module version 10.0.11-unofficial loaded. pwc: Supports Philips PCA645/646, PCVC675/680/690, PCVC720[40]/730/740/750 & PCVC830/840. pwc: Also supports the Askey VC010, various Logitech Quickcams, Samsung MPC-C10 and MPC-C30, pwc: the Creative WebCam 5 & Pro Ex, SOTEC Afina Eye and Visionite VCS-UC300 and VCS-UM100. pwc: Trace options: 0x0001 pwc: Philips PCVC720K/40 (ToUCam XS) USB webcam detected. pwc: Registered as /dev/video0. usbcore: registered new driver Philips webcam usbcore: registered new driver quickcam usbcore: registered new driver spca5xx /devboard-R2_01/apps/spca5xx/spca_core.c: spca5xx driver 00.57.06LE registered Now point your webbrowser to http://<foxserve ip>:8888, and watch yourself on the web!!! ;-) You can also download a very cool JAVA APPLET from here All you have to do is change inside the file webcam.html the IP to the IP of you foxserve, upload it in /mnt/flash/root and point your browser to http://<foXServe ip>/client/webcam.html CREDITS: Thank you very much to http://www.foxfib.com/ for the webcamserver porting.
